I don’t know that Tesla has a published spec sheet stating when Autopilot either can or should be used.

Having driven the Model S, though, I can state with confidence that it does engage on surface streets, at least with enough speed. Presumably it also works on rural highways with cross-traffic.

It’s impressive how well it works, but it doesn’t work perfectly 100% of the time, particularly in non-Interstate situations.
