I forsee big changes. I imagine that autonomous vehicles will bring a lot of retail purchases to us, so while the number of short-distance trips by vehicles may spike, the number of short-distance trips traveled by humans may decrease. On the other hand, I imagine longer-distance trips traveled by humans will increase, as the psychological and opportunity costs of being in a car over a long distance decrease.
