This is a real bummer for Uber drivers.

But, in Uber’s defense, moving to self-driving cars is something Uber has to do to survive.

And even if Uber refused to abandon the drivers, then Ford, Google, and GM-Lyft would simplyh use self-driving cars to drive Uber out of business. The Uber drivers would wind up out of work either way.

But I agree it’s worth reflecting on the real damage suffered by people who have built their lives around driving for a living.
