We have seen some startups like Cruise and Otto become amazingly successful in this area, and I think we will see more of that in the coming years.

George Hotz and Comma.ai are focusing on a somewhat different approach than automotive manufacturers. They’re placing a huge emphasis on deep learning, and they’re open-sourcing their autonomous driving platform.
