You’re definitely right that these are driver assistance systems, not driver replacement systems.

That said, even though I knew that, I found myself lulled into a false sense of security and distraction once I got comfortable with Tesla’s Autopilot system.

It’s an open question whether systems can be designed to function that well and still engage the driver 100% of the time.
